WHAT TO EXPECT FROM AN EQUINE PHYSIOTHERAPY SESSION
-
Initial sessions are approximately 1hr 30mins- 1hr 45mins long.
-
Follow up sessions are approximately 1hr 30mins long.
-
This first session will include a discussion regarding the case history of your horse, including any diseases, surgeries or injuries that they have undergone, and their management and ridden schedule.
-
A thorough assessment will then be performed, involving observations of how your horse stands, how they move, the range of motion of their joints, and the condition of their musculature.
-
Following this, treatment will be applied in response to the findings, and also any diagnosed conditions. This treatment will involve a manual therapy session, performing massage and other soft tissue techniques, to help relieve any muscular tension and pain. Appropriate electrotherapeutic modalities will also be applied, such as LASER therapy, again to alleviate pain and also to promote healing.
-
Following the treatment, an individually tailored treatment plan will be compiled and emailed to you, with exercises being prescribed for you to do at home, encouraging your horse to move correctly and build up important musculature.

Following this, an individually tailored treatment will performed. -
After this, a treatment plan will be developed and emailed to you for your dog, including a remedial exercise programme for you to perform at home, which will encourage your dog to move correctly and build up the correct musculature.

Before Your Appointment
Treatments are carried out in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, which applies to animal musculoskeletal therapists. Full details on this legislation can be found here:
In accordance with this legislation, I will need a Veterinary Consent form signed by your vet prior to the physiotherapy session if your animal has any diagnosed clinical conditions, has undergone surgery or is seeing the vet for any specific concern.
